Canon 6D

Making the jump and treating myself to a Canon 6D from Wex Photo in Belfast. Since purchasing my new camera at the beginning of September 2017, I have since been to various National Trust sites and to local parks. As well as, bringing my camera along on days out with family and friends.

Before leaping to full frame photography when I purchased my Canon 6D, I had been using my Canon 600D, this little camera has served me well over the last five years, however making its way to my cabinet, homed with my granny’s vintage camera collection and my current lenses, the Canon 600D will not be forgotten because it was the reason why I grew to love photography.

Since making the jump to the Canon 6D, I have not looked back, the image quality I received was phenomenal, from the captured moments of a family feeding the ducks, to the in-depth detail of pillars to the petals of flowers, I was personally blown away, I didn’t want to edit my first shots!

The following week I went to Botanic Gardens, Belfast. In all the years that I have lived fifteen minutes from Belfast City Centre I have never in 21 years visited the garden. I was fascinated by the Palm House that contains a range of tropical plants, hanging baskets and seasonal displays.

Barely using my camera due to rarely getting good weather in Northern Ireland, I am genuinely impressed with the outcome of my raw photographs so far and I can’t wait to capture more of my travels.

From 600D to 6D

Going from a Canon 600D to a Canon 6D is a huge jump for me, but it is a jump I don’t regret. Having minimal experience with my 600D, I have already taken to exploring the different features on the 6D. From using the standard features on my 600D. I am ready to try use the manual settings on the Canon 6D, which allows me to take control of my photographs.

Taking pictures of Lily the families Staffordshire Bull Terrier, she is one of my many favourite things to photograph, she is a little poser! If she isn’t dosing off in front of the stove, she is out having a dander in the local park watching the world go by. The photo of her in our living room was taken on the 6D with a 50mm EF Lens. The detail in her fur stands out a lot and in comparison I thought the quality on my 600D was great until I seen the quality from the 6D.

iPhone to DSLR

I usually have either my iPhone or DSLR at hand, recently upgrading from the iPhone 7 Plus to the iPhone X. Most things I quickly snap on my iPhone because it is quick and easy, whereas, if I am out for the day with family or friends I will always carry my DSLR and have it ready to snap at any moment. I love having the option of both my iPhone or DSLR, because the quality from both my devices is phenomenal.

I have only had my iPhone X a couple of weeks so I haven’t had a chance to snap a lot with the camera, however I have tested the portrait mode feature when my brother was at Belfast’s Skate Park (Bridges) and these were the unedited results.

Over time I will update you on my progress with my Canon 6D and iPhone X.
