Sunday Walk at Hillsborough Castle & Gardens
A bright Sunday morning spent walking round Her Majesty The Queens Gardens at the Historic Royal Palace of Hillsborough Castle in County Down, Northern Ireland. With over one hundred acres to explore, you will not be disappointed because there is plenty to see and do.
Whilst Hillsborough Castle isn’t technically a castle, this Georgian Country House is gorgeous. From 1922 the Castle officially held residency of the Royal Family and was built in the eighteenth century for the Hill Family with over one hundred acres of surrounding gardens and parks.
Recently the Castle and Gardens have became open to the public following its recent renovations. It wouldn’t be hard to spend an entire day here because there is so much to see and do. The “Lost Garden”, “Jubilee Parterre” and The “Granville Garden” being three of my favourites alongside the “Walled Garden”.

However, I have yet to see inside the Castle because it is closed in the winter months, but seeing the beautiful picturesque gardens was great because I think I spent all morning and a good part of my afternoon wandering about. None the less when the Castle opens again to the public I will be sure to book a ticket.
